Pastoral Care:

The pastoral care team consists of all the Year Heads, Class Tutors plus subject teachers.  The role of the team may be stated, in summary, as follows:

o Monitor all students and note problems re health etc.
o Be available to listen to a student’s problem or concern
o Be available to meet parents/guardians
o Promote academic, sporting and artistic excellence
o Monitor and eliminate bullying, if it arises
o Introduce students to appropriate study techniques
o Recommend students for annual prize-giving awards
o Link with school management and staff re ‘students at risk’

Under its pastoral care role St. Brogan’s College staff has been briefed and up-dated on a number of important issues that relate to students/schools: Bullying, Preventing suicide, Drug abuse, Allegations/Suspicions of child abuse.

Our Code of Discipline is based on respect for people and property. Good discipline is a collective responsibility – both inside and outside the classroom and during extra-curricular activities away from the school campus, e.g. field trips, match trips, tours, etc.

Each member of staff has a duty of care to all students and acts in loco parentis.

Parents support and appreciate the efforts of staff in inculcating good behavioural standards. The establishment and maintenance of an orderly environment for their children’s schooling is very much appreciated
