| Dressed up and ready for a great night out!! |
|
Girls Night Out Some of Brogans students headed off for a well earned night out before Christmas. It was a mystery tour and all enjoyed the idea that they did not have an idea where they were going!! The girls enjoyed great craic with a Karoake machine in the restaurant in Kinsale. No need to bring entertainment as there was plenty in Brogans!!The girls got into the spirit of the evening and we had spot prizes for all the talent. The meal was fantastic and we got on the bus and headed for the movies in Ballincollig. The bus rocked to the christmas songs on the way home. All agreed that we would do this again.Stopping in Wilton shopping centre got a little of the Christmas shopping done too. Nothing nicer than shopping with friends. The bus had just about enough room for all the purchases.!! |

| Some of the second years who had parts in the various plays |
|
Second Years take to the stage. Three plays were written produced and performed in a competition as part of an initiative taken by the English teachers in May. Three differnent themes were taken ranging from an excerpt of "The Field" to "The Happy Prince" and another written completely from scratch. It was a great days entertainment and because so many were involved it gave a great opportunity to see the hidden talent in this Year group.Teachers Mrs Brid Murphy,Ms Michelle Ryan,Mr Dan Tobin and Mr Pat McCarthy were the people involved. Well done to all involved and we hope to do this again as it gives students the opportunity to act without the pressure of performing in public. |

| Phase 2 of Green Flag |
|
St Brogans works on Energy Awareness. This Year Transition Years enter Phase 2 of our Green Flag Campaign.......Raising Energy Awareness!! The picture is taken of guest speaker Mr Donal Sugrue who visited the school to make recommendations to the students on reducing energy consumption. One of the areas he discussed with students is the use of electricity in the school. Students will now work on helping to reduce electricity use and heating in the school. Efforts of the students will be assessed in November (24th). The conservation of energy is a very worthwhile project for Transition Years to be involved in as it will benefit all of us in the future.
Transition Year 2008 continue Brogans proud record of making our best effort to be a "Green " school. Under the direction of Ms Nuala Falvey Transition Years continue to recycle , re-use and dispose of waste in an environment conscious way. This is indeed a constant job as no day can be left go by without keeping waste to a minimum. After lunch is the busiest time as students work quickly to sort rubbish.Hygienic gloves on , the "Green Gang" move quickly to sort into categories of waste. Students are to be complimented in the very efficient way they do this , moving quickly from room to room emptying bins and sorting rubbish. We want to be a successful "Green School" so help out all you can!!
If you have any new ideas be sure and let us know!! |

Jayson Raymos Brogans 3 bid an emotional goodbye to Jayson Raymos. Jayson had to return to the Philipines to complete his education. The picture shows his class surrounding Jayson . They had a class party for him. All were very sad indeed as Jayson was a very nice young man who was also a very diligent pupil. We shall all miss him but hope to see him sometime in the future when he promises to return when he completes his education or sooner if he wins the lottery .... he says!! |

| 'B' Factor No one needs to be told that St Brogans is filled with talented students!! So following on the current TV style of finding who is able to perform , a competition was held in the school. We got the expert in by asking Cork man Martin Sexton to organise the event. Auditions were held and students went to the hall for private auditions. Out of an initial entry of over 42 acts , 19 were chosen to perform on the night. The formula was a great success and a great night was had by all. All the students entered into the spirit of the event which was to have a fun night where talent was appreciated. It turned out to be a great night out for old and young. We all know that it is hard to pick a winner on such an occasion but all agreed that Fabian Boros juggling was captivating and the audience loved him. We hope to hold such an event again and want to thank the parents association most sincerely for helping to sponsor the event. Well done to all who got involved. |

We headed for Mahon Point and did a bit of shopping. Then on to Vienna Woods Hotel where we were treated so well and had a fabulous buffet. Martin Sexton put on a great disco then. But the best was yet to come as Santa arrived and gave everyone a gift and everyone got a pcture taken( These will be on the web over the weekend) Thanks to Ms Mairead Sheahan,Ms Josephine Kelleher,Ms Claire O Donoghue and Mrs Caroline Corrigan for coming... They had a great time too and we all got in the Christmas spirit!! Roll on next mystery tour. |
Well Done to all First years. A very high standard was noted in the Christmas tests this year. At assembly Mr Mawe (Principal) and Mrs Brid Murphy(Year Head) addressed all first years and congratulated them. However they felt it was important to acknowledge that a number of students really excelled by scoring 100% in many of their tests. Mr Mawe told the students that another assembly will reward the best improvers!!So that gives great incentive to all!! | .jpg) | .jpg)

Continuing St Brogans proud tradition of Banking in Transition Year For many years now Transition Years have run a very successful school bank. Under the watchful eye of their mentor Mr Stephen Gilbert they have taken part in the competition and have gone as far as the final .This year like all years is manned by a very hard working group of students . They open their bank and carry out many promotions to encourage students to save. The entire staff support this important tradition. We are delighted to add that many of our former school bank personnel have gone on to study finance and accountancy as a result of this experience. |

Transition years in Kerry One of the best pictures to capture the true spirit of transition year is this one taken in Kerry in 2009 with Ms Zoe Dineen. To get the Presidents award students must rise to various challenges. Ms Dineen was the Co-Ordinator of this project. With the rugged Kerry background and all the students looking so well and happy it is obvious that they enjoyed themselves. |

Leaving Cert 2010
It is hard to believe that preparations are already beginning for the Leaving Cert 2010. Here we see some of this years Geography class on their fieldwork research. With all the bad weather since Christmas it was great that Mr Gilbert and his class got such a fine day as it would be much more unpleasant to be working in the rain etc. Rain,Hail or snow it had to be done!! Now begins all the work as the students begin to prepare their assignment. | .jpg) | .jpg)
